Norway may not be top of mind for most sun seekers, but around the middle of May until late July, head to the Arctic Circle and you can experience a natural phenomenon known as the midnight sun. During these few months the sun is visible at midnight local time, like you see in today's image of Norway's North Cape. Of course, as nature strives to maintain a balance, during winter many of these same places experience polar night, when the sun never rises above the horizon.

It might be a stretch to call this field a 'stadium' given there are no seats for spectators and it's only used for amateur football. But its stunning setting in Henningsvær, a fishing village on several small islands off the Lofoten archipelago in Norway, makes it one of the most striking football venues in the world. The pitch offers breathtaking views, and if you look closely, you'll see it is surrounded by wooden racks (called 'hjell' in Norway) that are used for drying fish, especially cod. They might also come in handy for stopping any stray balls from landing in the sea.
